New Executive Director at Alumni House

The Executive Board of the Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni (IAFSA) is pleased to announce that Francesca Cerutti-Harris has accepted the position of Executive Director starting in September 2018.
When IASFA put out a call for Framingham State memorabilia in celebration of their 140th Anniversary in 2014, Francesca remembered a handmade dress in a box in her closet. “My mother told me the dress was made by my Great Aunt, Janie Foster in honor of her graduation from the State Normal School (Framingham State)” explained Cerutti-Harris. “When I came into the beautiful Alumni House, Executive Director Debbie Cleveland gave me a tour, and was able to quickly look up my Great Aunt’s graduation date…1917. I was so impressed by the dedication of IAFSA to Framingham State students past and present, I knew the dress had found a good home. I also thought that if the opportunity ever arose, I would love to be a part of this organization.”
For twenty years prior to IAFSA, Francesca has been with Access Framingham, the local community media center and its previous cable television incarnations. Most recently she held the title of Assistant Director. “My experience with Access Framingham introduced me to community leaders, advocates, business and non-profit professionals, all with a passion for what they do. My own passion is building bridges and connecting people. Working with IAFSA is an opportunity to channel my experience into helping current and future Framingham State Alumni, who in turn enrich the larger MetroWest area.” Francesca also created several news videos highlighting events at Alumni house, including the recent Common Threads Cocktail Party, which can be seen here:
Francesca earned her degree in Communication Arts from Framingham State University in 2009. She is currently on the Board of Directors of The Framingham History Center, was on the founding Board of Directors for The MetroWest Conference for Women, and is a graduate of Leadership MetroWest. A resident of Framingham since 1993, Francesca lives with her husband and two children in the house originally bought by her Great Aunt Janie.
According to Executive Director Emerita of The Christa McAuliffe Center and IASFA Board President, Mary Liscombe, “The Executive Board of IAFSA is delighted to welcome Francesca Cerutti-Harris as the new Executive Director. Francesca brings new energy, goals, and fresh perspectives to our esteemed organization. We very much look forward to working with her in our mission to support Framingham State Alumni.” Liscombe and Cerutti-Harris were part of Leadership MetroWest Academy class of 2002.
Current Executive Director, Debbie Cleveland will continue with IASFA part-time as a consultant/mentor starting in September. “I am pleased that someone of Francesca’s caliber and knowledge of the Framingham State Community and culture will be here to continue not only the IAFAS mission, but also the friendship and cooperation with Framingham State University,” said Cleveland. Debbie will also be pursuing other passions including writing and historical research.
A reception is planned to welcome Francesca and thank Debbie for her years of service on Thursday, November 29th from 4:00-7:00pm at Alumni House.
