Independent Alumni Association Receives Archival Grant

The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni (IAFSA) recently received a grant for archival work from the Massachusetts State Historical Records Advisory Board (MA SHRAB). Volunteer archivists Michael Conway and Patricia Berlandi both 1970 graduates, met with Roving Archivist Sarah-Jane Poindexter to review and assess the current historical holdings of IAFSA. Ms. Poindexter was given a tour of Alumni House and its archival materials in preparation for the development of a strategic plan of organization and preservation.  Efforts by IAFSA to bring together historic materials have resulted in a wealth of archives which tell the story from the first State Normal School in America in the nineteenth century to today’s Framingham State University.
This grant award was made possible through the Massachusetts State Historic Records Advisory Board (MA SHARAB) and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) grant program. The Roving Archivist Program connects stewards of historical records with a trained professional archivist to provide advice on policies, procedures, and other best practices.
